A 55-year-old man from Tripura died after consuming a full bottle of acid mistaking it for alcohol.
The incident took place at Lankapur village in South Padmabil ADC Village under the Khowai district, Tripura on Friday night.
The deceased identified as Kartik Mohan Debbarma was a habitual drinker, the police informed.
“On the day of the incident, he got excessively drunk at a local country-made liquor shop. He, however, returned home and slept. At midnight he woke up to drink more, but mistakenly took the bottle of acid and consumed it. He then fell unconsciously,” police said.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.
