Tripura new cabinet approves new schemes for Divyangjan, primitive tribes

He further informed that a bundle of initiatives was taken for the protection and upliftment of the Reang tribal community people.

AGARTALA:

The new Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Saha chaired his government’s first cabinet meeting and approved a slew of decisions including the welfare of physically challenged people, development of primitive tribes, and chalked out fresh policies to strengthen the state’s health and IT sectors.

While speaking at a press conference, cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury said the decisions approved by the state cabinet are all in the preliminary stage and the government will only be able to furnish a detailed overview of all these schemes after the next cabinet meeting.

 “The government offices will be transformed into divyangjan (person with disabilities) friendly infrastructure and in each district targeted approach will be undertaken for the overall development of the beneficiaries. Through this scheme, which will be prepared as per the Centre’s guidelines and Supreme Court judgment, we shall try to ensure socio-economic development of the Divyanga people”, he said.

He further informed that a bundle of initiatives was taken for the protection and upliftment of the Reang tribal community people.

As per the primary assessment, there are around 1.85 lack Reang community people in the state belonging to 43,316 families. “Our government will soon formulate a state health policy and will revamp the IT policy with an aim to draw investment in the sector,” he added.
