Tripura shuts shopping malls, cinema halls as Covid cases increase

AGARTALA: As the number of Covid cases has started increasing indiscriminately in Tripura, the state government has issued fresh SOPs, including changing the night curfew time from 9 PM to 8 PM from January 20, and closing of multiplexes, shopping malls, cinema halls, parks, and picnic spots till further orders.

“From January 20, night curfew will be effective from 8 pm instead of 9 pm. In this regard, a circular containing various policy guidelines will be issued by the state government,” Information and Culture Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced on December 19.
Stating that the current situation in the state is worrisome, he said that from January 20, night curfew will start from 8 pm instead of 9 pm. The state cabinet also decided to impose some more restrictions in this regard.

“A circular in this regard will be issued today. All the religious ceremonies such as Kirtan should be completed by January 23, 2022,” the minister said.

Besides the closure order, the government has also decided to keep attendance in government offices in Agartala Municipal Corporation at 50 per cent.

Meanwhile, the state government has started a three days special Covid vaccination campaign for 15 to 18 age group which will be completed by on January 21.

According to sources the special covid vaccination campaign has been launched in a total of 734 schools across the eight districts of the state for a three-day period from January 19 to January 21, 2022.

The official also said that the concerned ministers of the district will be directly present in the program and will encourage the successful implementation of the program and vaccination of the citizens.

The health official informed that at present, a total of 48 lakh 64 thousand 155 doses of Covid vaccines have been given to above 18-year-old citizens across the state. At present, there are 7 lakh 85 thousand 170 stocks of the covid vaccine in the state.
