An employee of the Don Bosco College in Tura drowned in the Pelga Falls, outside of Tura after he went fishing, a day earlier. His body was retrieved on July 4.
The deceased identified as Albinus Tirkey, who was one of the college bus drivers, had gone to the famous Pelga Dare waterfalls of the Ganol River, located on the outskirts of Tura town for fishing, on July 3 when he disappeared into the water.
Following the disappearance, police and disaster rescue force personnel rushed to the site to locate the missing victim. Despite an extensive search by police divers into the murky waters below, they could not locate him and the operation was called off due to fading light on Sunday evening.
Fresh search operations this morning led to the discovery of the body downstream near Danchi Wari.
Notably, the Pelga falls is a famous tourist spot for locals but the powerful water currents during the monsoon season are a nightmare for anyone who dares to venture in. There have been several drowning cases every year at this tourist spot.
