Two people died and others sustained injuries when two trucks crashed at the ICAR, Umiam Shillong Bypass Road on the morning of June 9.
According to reports, the incident occurred at 8 am when a loaded truck, bearing the number WB 41 G 6998, journeying towards Silchar, crashed into another, bearing the number, NL 01 AE 3329, coming from the opposite direction.
The driver of the second vehicle died on the spot while the handyman sustained minor injuries.
A pedestrian was also injured in the collision and was rushed to Shillong Civil Hospital. As per reports, she later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.
A hatchback vehicle that was following the second car also crashed into it after the collision.
The driver of the first truck fled the scene, and an investigation is underway.
