Two drug peddlers from Manipur & Nagaland held at Lad Rymbai

The preliminary test of the powder gave a positive result for heroin. The total gross weight was found to be 2.738 kg.

KHLIEHRIAT:

Two persons were held along with a huge consignment of illegal contraband at Lad Rymbai near BMS Fuel Station Nongsning in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya on June 19.

Police received credible information that two drug peddlers namely Biaklian Guite (32) of Manipur and Imliakum Longkumer (40) of Nagaland were travelling in a Tata winger bearing Reg no. NL 07T 0815 and were carrying a consignment of Illegal contraband.

Acting on the tip off, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Team and staff of Lad Rymbai Police Station set up a naka near BMS Fuel Station Nongsning and the vehicle was detained around 6.15 pm of June 19.

“During the search of the vehicle in the presence of independent witnesses, 200 soap cases, containing yellowish orange powder were found concealed in various hidden compartments in the vehicle,” East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police Jagpal Singh Dhanoa informed.

He further stated that the preliminary test of the powder gave a positive result for heroin. The total gross weight was found to be 2.738 kg.

Two mobile phones and cash amounting to Rs 2500 were also seized.

“A case has been registered at Khliehriat Police Station and investigation is on to trace the backward and forward linkages,” the district police chief said.
