AGARTALA:
Tripura Police arrested two persons and recovered a container full of brown sugar from their possession in Agartala, on February 6. The police also seized a country-made pistol from their possession. The arrested have been identified as Balaram and Jaidul Islam.
The officer-in-charge of the West Agartala Police Station, Subrata Chakraborty said that police personnel at Ramnagar Outpost launched an operation to nab the culprits after getting reliable information on movement of a vehicle with the contraband items.
“When the car driver and the occupant spotted the police personnel, they tried to flee, but we detained them. During the preliminary search, we seized a medium size container with brown sugar and many empty vessels mainly used for drugs trafficking,” police said.
Chakraborty informed that the duo will be produced before the court on Monday and further investigations is in process.
