Two held in Tripura with contraband worth Rs 1.41 Cr

Vigilant troops of BSF Tripura also seized 22.5 kg ganja worth Rs. 1.12 lakh and contraband items having a collective value of Rs. 25.51 lakh in different operations on Indo-Bangladesh International Border.

The Border Security Force (BSF) seized a huge cache of contraband items, Indian currency and arrested two persons from two different locations.

On April 17, in a joint operation with the police, the Intelligence Team of BSF Tripura Frontier conducted a search operation in the residence of one, Abdul Matalim (30), of Bhadra Mishy Para under the Jirania sub-division of Tripura’s West District and seized a bag containing 30 plastic cases of suspected brown sugar, weighing approximately 360 grams worth Rs. 1.08 crore.

The BSF informed that the contraband was clandestinely hidden in the house and the arrested person has been handed over to the police and a further course of action under the NDPS Act has been initiated.

During a follow-up action, the police of AD Nagar Police station in Agartala apprehended one person, Narul Amin (56) of Gajaria, a bordering village in Agartala, and seized Rs. 2.81 lakh cash from his possession and detained a sedan car.

Vigilant troops of BSF Tripura also seized 22.5 kg ganja worth Rs. 1.12 lakh and contraband items having a collective value of Rs. 25.51 lakh in different operations on the Indo-Bangladesh International Border in the intervening night of April 17, making the total seizure value amounting to Rs. 1.41 crore.
