Two persons from Shillong held with contraband in Tripura

3,000 bottles of Phensidyl worth Rs 15 lakhs were seized from the arrested persons.

AGARTALA:

The Assam Police seized 3,000 bottles of Phensidyl worth Rs 15 lakhs at North Tripura’s Churaibari, on February 18. The police arrested two persons from Shillong – Ninrui Bamon (33) and Kindar Nongrum (22) – in connection with the seizure.

According to police, the contraband was seized from a truck while it was entering Tripura.

“While checking a truck bearing number AS25EC 3069, we seized 3,000 bottles of Phensidyl stored in 10 cartons inside the truck. The market value of the contraband is estimated to be Rs. 15 lakhs,” said Niranjan Das, in-charge of Assam Churaibari Check Post.

Police further informed that the truck was carrying retail goods from Guwahati to Agartala.
