USLR conducts day-long mobile legal house at Nongpoh Sessions Court

Around 60 persons have provided their information and received legal assistance from the team at the venue.

GUWAHATI:

Intending to provide legal assistance and advice to court goers and other people in need of legal counsel, the University School of Law and Research (USLR), University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) conducted its departmental best practice of creating awareness and also providing legal counsel to the poor and needy masses by way of a day-long mobile legal house at District Sessions Court at Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi on Friday 21.

A team including one faculty member and students from USLR, USTM proceeded to the premises of District Sessions Court Ri Bhoi district and set up a small kiosk and provided legal counsel to various people who approached the team with various legal queries to which the team members provided legal counselling as and where applicable.

The responses from the people, along with their details and information, were recorded thoroughly. Around 60 persons have provided their information and received legal assistance from the team at the venue.

The team of faculty and students present at the venue were Abdul Wadud Sk. (Asst Prof, USLR) and Hasina Khatun, Sweety Pyngrope, Aibandarihun Sayoo and Iftikar Sarwar (students of USLR).

The event concluded with inputs from local people and court visitors, and practicing advocates who approached the team and congratulated them for such a unique and helpful initiative by the University School of Law and Research, USTM.
