TURA:Â
A video has gone viral which shows young school girls not being allowed to enter a passenger bus in Tura Hawakhana, West Garo Hills.
The video shows school children being made to wait outside the bus in a local station until other passengers are filled in.
The date of occurrence is yet to be ascertained though sources said that it was taken on June 7.
The bus station caters to destinations in the plain belt region of West Garo Hills and most of the children use the bus to travel back to their homes in Damalgre and Garobadha, half way from Tura.
Since public transport services are supposed to help school children by either charging a nominal fee, bus operators tend to find it unprofitable to ferry them.
Meanwhile, bus operators in Tura clarified that police would impose penalties on them when found carrying beyond seating capacity in the public transport.
They claimed that as recent as May 25, a fine of Rs 2000 was slapped by police on one of their buses for having standing passengers.
