A youth accused of being part of a criminal gang that was allegedly planning to kidnap a non-tribal trader was caught by villagers in Chokpot region of South Garo Hills and handed over to police on Monday.
Villagers from Rongdi Anchenggre caught the suspect inside an arecanut plantation and handed him over to the village headman or Nokma after interrogating him.
They alleged that he was part of a seven member criminal gang that was planning to commit crime in the area and was handed over to Sangknigre police station.
