Vincent Pala sees infighting in UDP, NPP, BJP

The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president claims that the infighting will soon come to the fore.

SHILLONG:

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent H Pala on October 17 said that there is infighting in the United Democratic Party (UDP).

Pala claimed that the infighting will soon come to the fore.

According to him, the two departments under the charge of UDP minister Lahkmen Rymbui – Home and Education — are in conflict with each other.

Pala said that police, which comes under the Home department recently tear-gassed teachers who are under Education department.

“This shows that governance is not up to the mark,” the MPCC chief added.

Condemning the tear gas incident, he said that contractual teachers have been protesting for months and they should be respected.

Turning to the National People’s Party (NPP), Pala said that even in this party there is infighting.

The MPCC president asserted that NPP legislators do not have any power and it is vested only with the ministers.

“The fight for the party ticket (in the NPP) is intense. Many of the (NPP) MLAs will lose and if the ticket is going to some new face the current MLAs will oppose,” Pala said.

On the BJP, Pala said that even in this party there is a misunderstanding.

“One MLA is saying that the BJP wants to leave the ruling alliance, another wants to stay,” the MPCC chief stated.
