Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) FR Kharkongor said that the polling percentage is Sohiong as voting ended at 63 polling stations on May 10 stood at 91.87 per cent, which is much higher than the previous years.
Briefing media persons on key highlights from Sohiong polls, the CEO informed that the polling process was peaceful, with voters turning up in large numbers, and participation of women was significantly higher.
“Most of the polling took place during the early morning hours, and in the first part of the day. As per the figures we have received, three polling stations recorded a polling percentage in excess of 96 percent,” he said.
Kharkongor informed, the lowest percentage was reported from Rinli with about 73.22 percent.
Giving more details, Kharkongor said that there were no reports of machine malfunction from anywhere.
He further informed that the excise department seized 1104 litres of liquor at 2 pm, which was quite substantial on a single day.
Apart from that, the CEO said that 60 per cent of the polling stations were monitored through webcasting.
