The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has condemned the decision of the Government of India to organise cleaning drive on October 1 which falls on a Sunday.
“This decision of the government is a direct attempt to dishonour the sentiments of the followers of Christian faith in the country,” VPP general secretary Ricky AJ Syngkong said in a press statement.
The VPP has urged every Christian in the state to boycott the programme and refrain from participating in the cleaning drive activities on the mentioned day.
The VPP stated that as per tradition, the cleaning drive should be organised on the October 2 every year as part of honouring the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
