We are Khasi by blood, Indian by forgery: HNYF chief

Blah said the Centre is demanded to rectify the constitutional anomalies.

SHILLONG:

“We are Khasi by blood and Indian by forgery”, said Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) president Sadon K Blah on Monday.

“To say we are Khasi by blood and Indian by accident, it is too soft because the Khasi (states) are yet to merge with the Indian Union. If we ask for documents to prove we have merged with the Indian Union, they will not be able to produce. This is because there is no document of approval to show that we have signed the Instrument of Merger,” Blah said while speaking at a function held at Madan Iewrynghep, to pay rich tribute to U Tirot Sing Syiem on his 188th death anniversary.

He added, “Despite violating this and making us to be Indian by forgery, they (Centre) also violated the Standstill Agreement. I can also say that we are Indian by aggression because there was no consensus between the Hynniewtrep people and the Indian Union before we became full-fledged Indian citizens.”

Blah said the Centre is demanded to rectify the constitutional anomalies.

Stating that there is not a single law to protect the interest of the indigenous people, he said, “Therefore, I want to ask the Union government to respect the demand for inner line permit (ILP). They (State) have come up with MRSSA but now is giving excuse that they have to amend it.”

“You (Govt) say you need to mine uranium but as per Instrument of Accession (IOA) and Annexed Agreement (AA), uranium is not yours so stop interfering and don’t even think of trying your hands without being clear on the agreement,” he said.
