SHILLONG:
People’s Democratic Front (PDF) leader and Mawkynrew MLA Banteidor Lyngdoh, on March 6, claimed that the exclusion of PDF from the list of cabinet berths was not done intentionally but because the two PDF MLAs don’t want to be in the cabinet.
“I wouldn’t say excluded; we don’t want to be in the cabinet and the reason is because you have seen the people’s perception about the MDA. We think its better to support the ruling but at the same time, raise pertinent issues which affect the interest of the people of the state,” Lyngdoh said.
He further said that he is eager to know who will get the sports and agriculture portfolios. “We are here to work together for the interest of the people,” he said.
When asked whether he will accept a cabinet berth if offered in the second half of MDA 2.0 term, Lyngdoh replied in the negative. “No, we will not accept it,” he said.
It may be mentioned that Banteidor Lyngdoh was previously holding the Sports & Youth Affairs and Agriculture portfolios during the MDA 1.0’s tenure.
