What about the good things NPP did? Ampareen asks Opposition

Hailing the NPP for implementing various schemes in the education, health, agriculture and youth development, besides other sectors, the former legislator felt that these initiatives are a big achievement of the current dispensation.

SHILLONG:

Newly appointed spokesperson of the National People’s Party (NPP) Ampareen Lyngdoh has slammed other political parties for training their guns at the NPP over several issues and overlooking the ‘concerted effort’ put in by the ruling party in the past five years.

Speaking to The Meghalayan on the sidelines of the NPP general election meeting in Polo Ground here on January 12, the former Congress leader said, “Allegations come and allegations go. Different parties conglomerate together for different reasons and whether they are part of the MDA (Meghalaya Democratic Alliance) or out of the MDA, everyone is to be made equally responsible.”

She called on people to also realise the good in the midst of the bad. “You may say NPP did this and that wrong but you must also see what were the right things the NPP did,” she added.

Hailing the NPP for implementing various schemes in the education, health, agriculture and youth development, besides other sectors, the former legislator felt that these initiatives are a big achievement of the current dispensation.

“The concerted effort of the NPP to empower the youths through PRIME and YES- the FOCUS programme for the agricultural sector, the infrastructure development, and other completed projects serve as an example of how NPP has accelerated growth in the state,” Lyngdoh said.

Recollecting the contributions of the All-Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) in the initial years since Meghalaya attained statehood, Lyngdoh expressed optimism in the NPP rejuvenating that enthusiasm of the APHLC that worked for the welfare of the state and its people.

Commenting on her joining the NPP, she said, “I should go to a party that can form a majority, whether simple or absolute; I am here to serve the people,” Lyngdoh said, adding that regardless of the uniform she wears,  to her people she remains, “Madam Ampareen Lyngdoh”.
