The District Planning Officer, West Jaintia Hills district in collaboration with the State Council of Science, Technology and Environment, Meghalaya observed Wildlife Week from October 1 to October 7 with the theme, “Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration”.
The programme was held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, who is also the District Planning Officer was the chief guest. The programme was presided over by the Assistant Research Officer of District Planning, P Phawa.
Certificates and awards were given to the winners on the occasion.
Drawing competition with the theme ‘Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration’, and essay writing on ‘Wildlife Conservation’ were organised for students on the occasion.
Gratify Tyngkan of Government Girls’ HSS, Jowai won the first prize, and Damebudki Garod of Jowai Public school bagged the second prize in the essay competition, while Daminot Symblai of Jaintia HSS won the first prize, and Isakaru Rynjah Jowai Public school stood second in the drawing competition.
The winners who bagged the first prize were given Rs 1000 each along with a certificate and winners of the second prize were given Rs 500 each along with a certificate.
