SHILLONG:
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, on May 26, said that one of his key agendas while attending the upcoming conference of education ministers in Gujarat will be to discuss how to streamline the implementation of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) with his counterparts from across the country.
“I will try and talk with other education ministers on how to see that this issue of SSA could be streamlined,” he said.
Rymbui informed that he had also raised the issue with the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who had assured “to find ways and means to resolve the issue”.
“We will also continue to pursue with the Centre to see how we can ease this problem,” he said, adding that it is a problem that is faced by other states in the country as well, but in Meghalaya, it is a persisting one.
Meghalaya has witnessed frequent protests by the SSA teachers against the delay in the release of their salaries.
The two-day conference of education ministers will begin in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, From June 1.
