NONGPOH/SHILLONG:
Office-bearers of Ri Bhoi District Cricket Association (RBDCA), including the president, Rayonald Kharkamni, on Wednesday donated blood at the Blood Centre in Civil Hospital Nongpoh in keeping with World Blood Donor Day.
RBDCA secretary Michael Kharhunai, officials, and cricket players also donated blood.
Kharkamni, who is a regular blood donor, emphasised the importance of blood donation for maintaining a healthy body and assured that donating blood posed no danger.
He encouraged others to come forward and donate blood without hesitation adding,” If we have the courage to donate our blood it will give life to those who are suffering and instill hope in them.
BSF OBSERVES DAY
The 193 Battalion under BSF Meghalaya observed World Blood Donor Day at its headquarters in Mawpat in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS Hospital.
Approximately 150 personnel took it as an honour to serve the nation by donating blood. The same event was also conducted by 181 Bn BSF in association with Civil Hospital at BSF camp Tura.
Pradip Kumar, IG BSF Meghalaya said “BSF is nowhere behind in making a significant contribution towards the society. This act can save a precious human life in need”. He also expressed his gratitude to the doctors/staff and troops present on the occasion.
