SHILLONG:
Deputy Chief Minister incharge of PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong, lashed out at the engineers of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) for their alleged failure in overseeing the safety procedures while carrying out the construction work of the Shillong-Dawki road.
Tynsong, who is also the local MLA, unleashed his anger after two people were reportedly crushed in a landslide that occurred on April 14 evening. The two men, one of whom is said to be the rangbah shnong of Wahlyngkhat, are yet to be found.
Angered over the absence of an official-incharge at the spot, Tynsong called them “useless” and directed the two NHIDCL engineers, who were present at the site, to immediately bring experts from IIT-Guwahati to study the condition of the soil and the topography of the stretch at Rngain before going ahead with the construction work.
