1st Bn BSF celebrates 58th Raising Day in Tura

Tura, Mar 1: The 58th Raising Day of the first battalion of the Border Security Force was celebrated in Danakgre, Tura. A series of civic programs were organized throughout the past week to commemorate this event.

Today was the culmination of the programme, wherein a gala event was held and also the Bada Khana which comprised of cultural programs.

All available Officers, Subordinate Officers and troops participated in the function.

Arun Lal Bhagat Comdt & Offg Deputy Inspector General Sector Head Quarter Tura was present as chief guest in the function.

1st Bn BSF celebrates 58th Raising Day in Tura

Sunil Shekhwat Comdt 1st Bn BSF welcomed all and conveyed his Best wishes to all personnel of BSF.

The battalion was raised at Takenpur on 1st March 1966 as 1st Battalion of Border Security Force.

The Battalion is known for his outstanding and meritorious contributions in 1971 war with Pakistan on Western front.

The battalion has vast achievements in face of enemy/ counter-insurgency/counter terrorist operations and has outstanding achievements in all fields .

The Raising Day events planned for a week started from the border by organising civic action programmes at Bagli and Mahadev under SWGH District .

To motivate young generations a football tournament was organised for boys and girls and winners were given medals and trophies for their achievements.

Two Medical Camp were also organised at village Bagli and Mahadev for free medical check up of residents of Border area as a part of social responsibility of the force.

Next in a series of activities, a weapon exhibition was organised at Dhanakgre campus , Tura.

Blood donation camp was also organised to commemorate the 58th anniversary of the Battalion. In which 58 units of Blood donated with the help of Doctors from Civil Hospital, Tura.
