2 Assam students drown in Siang river in Arunachal Pradesh

The incident took place when five students of DU decided to take a bath at the Siang River at Ranaghat in Pasighat.

GUWAHATI:

Two students of Dibrugarh University (DU) drowned in Siang River at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh on July 18.

They have been identified as Prasiddha Handique (Chiring Chapori, PGDCA last semester of DU) and Subhadeep Paul (Gohpur, BCA 6th semester of DU).

The incident took place when five students of DU decided to take a bath at the Siang River at Ranaghat in Pasighat.

While three managed to swim across the river, two were swept away by the strong current of the river.

Rescue teams from both Assam and Arunachal Pradesh are continuing their search and rescue operations in the river.
