Nongstoin:
The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), West Khasi Hills district, Nongstoin, has handed one Babul Basil Ali a 25-year jail term after convicting him of raping a minor.
In its order on April 28, the court sentenced him to undergo 25 years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 50000 under section 6 of the POCSO Act, and in default of payment of a fine shall further undergo 6 months simple imprisonment.
The accused person was convicted of raping one minor girl on July 30, 2021, at Pyndengrei Mawkhmahwir village, West Khasi Hills. This matter had been reported to Nongstoin police station where a case was registered vide Nongstoin PS C/No. 48 (07)/2021 Under Section 377 IPC r/w Section 5(m)(n)/6 of the POCSO Act.
The police arrested the accused immediately and conducted a  thorough investigation into the case, culminating in his conviction and sentencing.
