Nongpoh:
The department of ICAR Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Umiam has organised a three-day review cum action workshop for farmers facing problems due to climate change.
The workshop, which was held from April 28 – 30, was inaugurated by Shillong MP Vincent Pala as the chief guest in the company of officers and scientists of ICAR.
The workshop was attended by 50 farmers from Ri Bhoi district.
Pala thanked the ICAR team for taking the initial step in reaching out to farmers and teaching them ways to deal with climate change and finding solutions to various problems.
He also said as climate remains unpredictable, the workshop can help farmers to be well-prepared in caring for their crops.
During the last day session, the farmers also showed their appreciation to the ICAR team for extending help to them in the past years too.
