NONGPOH:
The Jorabat police seized huge consignment of illegal liquor from a truck during an operation from the outskirts of Guwahati city on September 12.
Police said that the truck bearing registration number AS-01 KC-6517 was intercepted at 13 Mile area, and after a thorough search 396 cartons of beer being brought from Arunachal Pradesh illegally.
According to the police, the driver of the truck managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.
In this case, a businessman named Ripon Barua involved in the illegal liquor smuggling business has been arrested, police said.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered in this case and an investigation is underway.
