TURA:
Four occupants of a car were left grievously injured when a bricks-laden truck coming down hill rammed into their vehicle in Tura on Monday evening near Rongkhon area.
The incident took place at approximately 6:30 in the evening when the truck loaded with bricks was coming down from Tura and lost control hitting a Hyundai Santro car that was coming up from the opposite direction.
The force of the impact was so intense that the truck also rammed into an electrical transformer by the side of the road bringing down the poles and wires onto the road and passersby.
Fortunately, there were no electrocution deaths since Tura was under load-shedding when the accident happened.
The place of occurrence is a narrow road that begins from Rongkhon all the way to the entrance of Tura town at Chitoktak, a stretch of almost 4 kms, and no road expansion work has taken place in the area for years altogether making it dangerous for passersby and pedestrians alike.
