SHILLONG:
Minister in-charge of Fisheries department AL Hek, on April 24, said that the department has sent proposals to set up eight fish sanctuaries in different districts of the state.
“We will set up maybe 2-3 sanctuaries in the Garo Hills, and then other districts. All these beautiful rivers we will convert them into sanctuaries based on a revenue model to attract tourism,” he said.
Speaking on revenue model, he said that the revenue will not come to the government and will go to the local authorities.
Giving details about the time frame for the projects, Hek said that only when the government sanctions the proposals, the timeframe can be given.
