In a road accident, six people died on the spot when a heavy truck carrying cement rammed into a four-wheeler (Bolero) at Umbang, Sumer, in Ri Bhoi district on February 26.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 2:30 pm when the overspeeding truck (bearing registration number WB 41G 7268), coming from Shillong, lost control and jumped over the other lane ramming into the four-wheeler which was going towards Shillong.
Further, the occupants of the four wheeler 3 men (brothers and fathers) and 3 women (nuns) belonged to the Dioceses of Bongaigaon Assam fraternity.
The deceased have been shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital for post mortem and the driver who sustained injuries was also shifted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered into the incident.
