AITC legislator urges govt to regularise services of contractual peons

SHILLONG:

Opposition AITC legislator from Mawsynram, Himalaya Shangpliang, on September 16, urged the state government to consider regularising the services of over 123 casual peons working in the secretariat for the past many years.

Raising the issue during the Assembly, Shangpliang said these casual peons were appointed in 2013.

He also questioned an advertisement issued by the secretariat to fill up 77 peon posts on February 9.

The legislator also urged chief minister Conrad K Sangma to refer to a petition which was submitted to the chief secretary on August 19 and decide accordingly on the matter.

The chief minister did not give any assurance, but said that he would require notice on the matter.
