Minister in-charge, Community & Rural Development, Hamlet Dohling, said that there is no commitment made to come up with a new block, but a lot of applications and proposals have been received.
He was replying to a supplementary query raised by AITC MLA Winnerson Sangma in the assembly on September 16, the last day of the autumn session, regarding the creation of a new block in Pura Khasia area.
Replying to another supplementary query from Independent MLA Lambor Malngiang, Dohling said, “The total proposals received by the department are 19.”
Malngiang requested the government to ensure creation of Nongkrem C & RD Block to which Dohling said that the matter was under examination.
Nongpoh MLA, Mayralborn Syiem, requested the government to consider creation of Umden C & RD Block.
Mawlai MLA P T Sawkmie asked what is the expenditure incurred for creation of a new block and Dohling replied that it is roughly around Rs 12 crore.
