The Deputy Commissioner of North Garo Hills district, Mitali Chandra, has sought a report on the alleged involvement of Chief Executive Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council Albinush R Marak in illegal mining and transport of coal in Garo Hills.
Chandra has sought verification from the Superintendent of Police, North Garo Hills, Divisional Forest Officer of East and North Garo Hills, Divisional Mining Officer of East and North Garo Hills and Block Development Officer of Resubelpara and asked them to submit the report before May 26.
In her letter, Chandra said, “With reference to the subject…I am forwarding herewith copy of the letter under reference received from A Kharshiing, Under Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Mining and Geology department, Shillong and the enclosure therewith, regarding the complaint against illegal transportation of coal alleging involvement of the present CEM of GHADC.
In this regard, you are hereby requested to verify and submit the report on the matter to the undersigned on or before May 26, positively.”
