Govt to make quality healthcare easily accessible

Inaugurating the Lawbah Primary Health Centre (PHC) in East Khasi Hills district on May 20, the minister said the PHC is a testimony to the efforts to make quality healthcare accessible to the people both in urban and rural areas as well.

Health & Family Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh has reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring better health services to the people of the region.

Inaugurating the Lawbah Primary Health Centre (PHC) in East Khasi Hills district on May 20, the minister said the PHC is a testimony to the efforts to make quality healthcare accessible to the people both in urban and rural areas as well.

Lyngdoh also assured the people that the government will provide all support relating to manpower, equipment and accommodation for staff for the PHC to function efficiently and also thanked all the stakeholders involved in making the dream a reality for the people of Lawbah and its adjoining areas, an official statement said.

The minister also urged the stakeholders to continue working diligently and maintain teamwork in order to provide the best health services to the public. She further urged the public to work hand in hand with the department and also to take proper care of the building and its vicinity.

Lyngdoh also thanked the Special Purpose Vehicle Society undertaken by Lafarge Umiam Mining Private Ltd. for the procurement of various machines and equipment used in the PHC which will further boost the success of the health centre.

It may be mentioned that the PHC was built at a cost of Rs 4.19 crore.

Others present at the inspection were Mawsynram MLA Ollan Singh Suin, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner R M Kurbah and other officers of the health & family welfare department.
