SHILLONG:
Director General of Police (DGP) LR Bishnoi, on May 16, said that the matter concerning the arrest of the BSF jawans involved in shooting a trucker recently is sub judice, and the case is under investigation.
Informing media persons if the case will be taken up by state police, the DGP said, “Today we met the Deputy Chief Minister, along with the BSF, wherein the matter was discussed in detail, and the BSF assured us of taking follow up action as per the act.”
Asked on the necessity of the BSF personnel being handed over to the state police, the DGP said that the department had insisted on it as per the court order, however, as BSF is a central force, there are certain provisions in place and the state has to go as per those rules.
