A pick-up truck ferrying cattle to Meghalaya was seized by Assam police on Monday.
The police team of Jorabat police outpost on the outskirts of Guwahati, seized the pick-up truck, which did not have a registration number, illegally transporting eight cattle. Police said the truck was on its way to Meghalaya from Nagaon before being seized.
During the operation, the driver managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness. Smuggling of animals continues unabated despite strict animal law in the Assam.
