BJP leader demands govt to clear pending salaries as Christmas gift

BJP leader and Tura MDC Bernard N Marak alleged that CM is busy and showing keen interest in promoting expensive entertainment shows while majority of the employees are yet to receive their salaries.

SHILLONG:

BJP leader and Tura MDC Bernard N Marak has demanded the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government led by Conrad K Sangma to clear pending salaries of different employees as Christmas gift.

“CM should clear the pending salaries as Christmas gift,” Marak said in a statement issued on December 17.

He alleged that CM is busy and showing keen interest in promoting expensive entertainment shows while majority of the employees are yet to receive their salaries.

Even the Council employees, SSA teachers, Adhoc and contractual employees, COVID staffs, contractors and many others are yet to get their dues which are pending for some months now.

“CM, if he understands the true meaning of Christmas, he will walk an extra mile to ensure nobody is sad during Christmas. He should take full responsibility to clear the dues of all whose salary depends on his clearance as he holds the highest post in the state.

Christmas is just a week away and anticipations of every earning member of the family hangs in dilemma as no interest is shown by CM to walk provide the basic needs of the people,” Marak added.

He said Christmas will lose its charm, joy and happiness if Cm can’t fulfil his duty as finance department is under CM and everything depends on CM’s initiative.

Stating that the Centre has cleared all dues but even centrally sponsored contractual employee’s salaries are pending, he said, “If by any chance, there are pending dues in the centre and if there is any way we can help as a party man, we are ready to do everything we can.”

He further assured that BJP is ready to assist beyond any ideological differences.

“BJP wants to give, not take as other parties are doing. Antyodaya is our mission and BJP wants to ensure that even the last person in the society gets the same benefit. And in Christmas, it’s all about giving the best we can, not only about partying and entertainment but spread love and happiness,” Marak said adding “It’s also notable that PMAY, PM Kishan, IHHL, Job card holders, old age pensioners, widow pensioners, disabilities and other beneficiaries are yet to receive their dues. Depriving them during Christmas is what makes politics and politicians bad.”

He said that BJP cannot stay mute when injustice is meted on the poor by NPP led MDA government because it conflicts our ideology when we say “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”.

“CM being appointed by BJP and receiving all support from the Centre, should take utmost care and ensure that no family is deprived during Christmas,” Marak further added.
