BJP ridicules Pala’s statement, dubs it publicity stunt

State unit spokesperson, Mariahom Kharkrang, said that it is common knowledge that Congress is a sinking ship in Meghalaya in particular and across the country in general, whose fate of doom can be saved by none.

SHILLONG:

The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on June 23 stated that the recent statement made by Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent H. Pala that they are ready to form a government with Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) 2.0 sans the saffron party is nothing but trying to grab cheap publicity.

State unit spokesperson, Mariahom Kharkrang, said that it is common knowledge that Congress is a sinking ship in Meghalaya in particular and across the country in general, whose fate of doom can be saved by none.

“For the Congress it is a bitter pill to swallow that they are out of MDA 2.0.  These statements of the Congress are nothing but diversionary tactics to dilute the huge attention, love and respect our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) is receiving at the global stage,” he said.

The spokesperson said that this is reflective of the fear of the Congress of BJP’s transparent and zero tolerance corruption policy.

Kharkrang said that for the Congress which is a party infamous for its saga of scams, running a non corrupt government is something which is alien to them.

According to him, the Congress dream of others leaving BJP aside and wanting to form an alliance with them is a mockery of the dynamics of coalition politics.

“People of the state know well that BJP is a strong and steady partner in MDA 2.0 and its presence in the coalition gives the alliance the might to forge ahead with people centric policies and development as it’s agenda,” he said.

Kharkrang said that the citizens are aware that BJP is an important ally in MDA 2.0, keenly observing the functioning of the government and at the same time ensuring that the dividends of the central policies made for the benefit of the people reaches the beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, National People’s Party (NPP) national vice-president and deputy chief minister, Prestone Tynsong, when asked about Pala’s statement, refused to make any comments.

“The present dispensation/arrangement made by the MDA 2.0 will continue till the end of the term,” Tynsong said.
