BJP’s rule in Tripura will end soon: Congress MLA

Sudip Roy Barman said that not only state BJP leaders but also the Central leadership are aware of the fact that they have lost the support of the common people.

AGARTALA:

Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, on July 27, claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura will not come back to power as it is gradually heading backwards to its starting point when it got just 1.57 per cent votes in the 2013 Assembly election.

“In a democracy the last word is said by the common people, the support of which they have lost completely. This makes me and all the people of the state believe that the BJP is not going to come back but rather they are going to gradually head backwards from where they started which was 1.57 per cent votes in the 2013 Assembly election,” Roy Barman said.

“They have lost the faith of the people, and so they turned the last election into a farce and even looted votes in the recently held by-elections which was held in four seats. In the coming days they will not get the chance to repeat such activities,” he stated.

Addressing a press conference at Pradesh Congress Bhawan in Agartala, Roy Barman said that not only state BJP leaders but also the Central leadership are aware of the fact that they have lost the support of the common people.

“That is the reason why during the election they resorted to all unfair means, and that is the reason why the present chief minister is called as ‘Chappa Chief Minister’ a chief minister who won by rigging votes,” he said.

Roy Barman further said that the BJP believes that as they are in power, they can misuse all the agencies by terrorising or paying them so they can remain in power.

He said the Congress is committed to ousting the fascist BJP government from the state, for which it has called upon all likeminded parties to come together to work out how to save the democracy of the state.

“This is not an electoral alliance, but an exchange of views, and very shortly we will sit together and work out how to restore democracy in the state and how to save the constitution of India as well as ensure the lives and properties of the common people are secure,” he added.

Soon after the press conference more than 28 grassroots level leaders of BJP joined Congress.
