BRO ADG inspects ongoing work under Project Vartak in Arunachal Pradesh

GUWAHATI:

The progress of work under the Border Roads Organisation’s Project Vartak, which has been instrumental in infrastructure development in western Arunachal Pradesh, was reviewed by Additional Director General Border Roads (ADGBR) East, PKH Singh.

Post the three-day review visit that ended on March 27, Singh said that strategic works under the project are nearing completion. He also reviewed various other projects which have been successfully completed to improve road connectivity in remote areas of the state.

Singh in his visit by road from Guwahati to Sela Pass inspected all major bridges under construction on OKSRT and BCT road.

The ADG appreciated the efforts to complete the retrofitting works of the Sukha Nullah Bridge in a time-bound manner, and said that the connectivity to Tawang through Orang Kalakthang Tenga and Balipara Chariduar Tawang roads have seen unprecedented improvement in the last few years.

During the visit, the ADG emphasised on the judicious use of resources and timely completion of works while maintaining the quality as per the laid down norms and standards.

Informing that there was an urgent need to upgrade and adopt better technologies and materials in the work undertaken by the BRO and timely completion of the same, he said that it is important that funds allocated for such projects are utilised appropriately.

The ADG was informed that all works on the Balipara-Charduar-Tawang road are progressing well and will be completed by June 2022.

The ADG also assessed ongoing works of the Sela and Nechiphu tunnel being constructed on the Balipara–Charduar–Tawang road of Arunachal Pradesh.

“These tunnels will ensure round the clock connectivity to the strategically important Tawang sector and will boost the economy and tourism in the West Kameng and Tawang Distt,” he said.

Singh appreciated the Karamyogis of Project Vartak, stating that despite unprecedented snowfall in the region, the work has been going on.

He insisted that the ongoing projects can be completed on time and dedicated to the nation.

On March 27, the ADG visited HQ Project Vartak where Brig Harish Kumar, chief engineer Project briefed him on all major works being taken up in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

He also discussed the planning of works for execution for the next 2022-23 fiscal. He expressed his satisfaction in the excellent progress carried out by Project Vartak and congratulated the Brigadier for spearheading an infrastructural revolution in the region through state-of-the-art roads, bridges and tunnels.
