Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray resigns ahead of floor test

As per reports, he submitted his resignation to state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari ahead of the floor test

Maharashtra

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on June 29 resigned soon after the Supreme court rule that he must prove his majority.

As per reports, he submitted his resignation to state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari ahead of the floor test. Thackeray said that he had no regrets in leaving the Chief Minister’s position, as whatever he did was for the Marathi people and Hindutva. Furthermore, Thackery thanked The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar and Congress President Sonia Gandhi and also state leaders for extending their cooperation in the functioning of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, over the last two-and-a-half years.

He also expressed serious resentment over betrayal by his own party leaders. Expressing his disappointment with the Shinde faction, saying that he gave the rebel MLAs all that they wanted, he stated that it was ironic that besides him, only three other ministers from Shiv Sena, including Subhash Desai, Anil Parab and Aaditya Thackeray were present at the cabinet meeting.

He also thanked the Governor who upheld democracy by asking them to hold a floor test in 24 hours after a delegation met them. However, he hoped the Governor should have cleared the file pertaining to the nomination of 12 in the state council which has been pending for a long time.

He further addressed that he is not the one to be scared, but rather than filing the blood of the Shiv Sainiks on the streets, he will step down.
