Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) statement demanding the suspension of DGP and SP over the Tura violence is erroneous, especially when such statements are made by former chief minister.
“The police were doing their duty, and they did it very well. They acted swiftly, put themselves on the front, and got injured. So, it is completely incorrect to say that, especially when it comes from the former chief minister who understands the roles and responsibilities of the police force,” Sangma said.
Reacting to the statement that the DGP and SP are acting on behest of their political masters, Sangma maintained that everything that the police is doing is based on evidence and proof.
“It is very simple for anybody to make statements that the police are acting on behalf of political masters. I don’t think that it is appropriate to say such things. Individuals arrested have been linked to some or the other political parties, and that’s how it is,” he said.
