CM flags off CRPF Women Bikers Expedition from Shillong

During the expedition, three teams of CRPF’s all women bikers from Shillong, Srinagar and Kanyakumari will head to Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, where they will converge on October 27 or 28. The group from Shillong, which was flagged off today, will cover a distance of more than 3000 kms traversing through seven states on the way.

Personifying Nari Shakti, the CRPF Women Bikers Expedition called Yashaswini was flagged off by chief minister Conrad K Sangma from SRGT 2nd Ground, Polo in Shillong on October 5.

The all women CRPF biking team, will in the course of their expedition, exhibit the spirit of national unity and inclusiveness all along the route, while at the same time creating awareness on the value of girl child.

According to a press release from the CRPF, this expedition is being organised in the run up to Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, which is celebrated every year since 2014 on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the first home minister of our nation, who is also popularly known as the Iron man of India, as he played a vital role in integrating 562 princely states in our nation.

During the expedition, three teams of CRPF’s all women bikers from Shillong, Srinagar and Kanyakumari will head to Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, where they will converge on October 27 or 28. The group from Shillong, which was flagged off today, will cover a distance of more than  3000 kms traversing through seven states on the way.

This expedition has been planned under the constant guidance of Sh. Sujoy Lal Thaosen, IPS, DG CRPF, which has helped CRPF immensely in the smooth execution of such a vast and significant event.

Notably, the CRPF, is the largest Central Armed Police Force of the world, with 246
Bns spread across the length & breadth of this vast country. It has the mandate and
humongous responsibility of maintaining internal security. North East Sector was
established in 1976 with the responsibility of whole of the North East. Presently, this
sector is having the area of responsibility of the entire state of Meghalaya and 21
districts of Assam.

CRPF, has a glorious past of even successfully repulsing the external aggressions and is presently the leading force for maintaining the internal security. Simultaneously, it has also been a soft power to promote social and national harmony. Today’s expedition is also a milestone in this direction.
