CM inaugurates Shallang C&RD Block in West Khasi Hills

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on December 20 inaugurated the new Shallang Community & Rural Development (C &RD) Block in West Khasi Hills.

He also handed over the notification to the new Block Development officer of Shallang C&RD block.

Speaking at the function, Sangma called upon the newly appointed BDO to sincerely dedicate himself to the well-being of the general public.

“Remember that you are not doing your duty out here but you are here to serve the people of the area, one smile from you can change the future of the people in the area,” he added.

The chief minsiter said that the MDA government has initiated various programmes for the welfare of the people.

He stated that the government wants to ensure that public services should be accessible to the people.

Sangma said that West Khasi Hills had remained neglected for years but the MDA-led government has initiated different development programmes in the district.

Meanwhile, Mawshynrut MLA, Gigur Myrthong said that the intention of the government to create the new C&RD Block is to bring developmental schemes to the people.

He also appreciated the kind gesture of the government to understand the plight of the people for their hardship to travel to Riangdo for any official purposes.

He added that it is going to be memorable to have the Block office within their reach and this will benefit people to procure the facilities of the government to uplift the economic conditions of the people and thus improve their lifestyle.

During the programme, Sangma also handed over FOCUS plus cards and distributed piglets and Kuroiler birds under the progress scheme.
