CM reacts to VPP’s move to walk out from all-party meeting

“I fail to understand where the VPP logic is coming from, first they were talking about all these issues, and now when it is clarified they are bringing in another issue," Sangma said.

SHILLONG:

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on May 19, questioned the Voice of the People Party (VPP), and their logic to stage a walk out from the all-party meeting convened for a presentation on Roster System.

“I fail to understand where the VPP logic is coming from, first they were talking about all these issues, and now when it is clarified they are bringing in another issue,” Sangma said.

Reacting to the VPP walking out from the meeting, the Chief Minister said that it is their political decision, and I only urge them to understand that as responsible leaders we are responsible to the state.

“We need to understand that there are certain areas, certain subjects that have a potential to disrupt communal harmony, and affect the state’s unity. And as responsible leaders we should know when, where and how we should move forward,” Sangma said.

Stating that everything is not about politics, and political gain, the Chief Minister further said that the VPP must be responsible as leaders to ensure that the safety, security, and the harmony in the state is maintained

“So, I appeal to the supporters from all political parties that we have been living in the society for the last many centuries, and we as a state are lucky to have our own reservation system which is working in our favour,” Sangma added.
