Coalition partners want CMP to address state’s issues

President of United Democratic Party (UDP), Metbah Lyngdoh said that the party will address their concerns to Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma.

SHILLONG:

The coalition partners in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) spoke on the need to come up with a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) to address issues of the state.

President of United Democratic Party (UDP), Metbah Lyngdoh said that the party will address their concerns to Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma.

He said, “I am very sure that those points which we address, will be taken into consideration because at the end of the day it is for the welfare of the state.”

BJP MLA A L Hek observed that the coalition should immediately come up with the CMP.

He said, “We are all working under MDA 2.0 and we should immediately have a common minimum programme. We should insist on the CMP. BJP is one of the partners in MDA – whatever we have in our manifesto and party ideologies, we will try to bring it to the fore.”

Sources from the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) said that the party will discuss the CMP but will have a Central Executive Committee (CEC) first.

It may be mentioned that MDA 2 will set up a steering committee to draft the common minimum programme.

The MDA 1 also had the idea of coming up with the programme which was however stalled due to Covid-19.
