Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on May 2, said that the state health sector is prepared for any Covid situation that may arise.
Briefing media persons he said, ‘We haven’t let our guards down; we’re making sure to take the necessary precautions in any cases that may arise, and without establishing any kind of strict guidelines or making anything mandatory we have urged civilians to take precautions by avoiding crowded areas and wearing masks. People should carry out these actions at their own level.’
Regarding vaccines, he stated that if there is a scarcity, he will take the necessary steps to ensure that anyone who wants to receive a booster shot can do so.
He said that even though he doesn’t have the exact numbers at this moment, The Covid trend has been detected and the tests are ongoing. He mentioned taking comfort in the idea that whatever COVID data is available from the most recent months or weeks claims that the present one is a milder variant of the previous variant.
‘It is less deadly than the Delta version that was previously present. The evidence appears to support this, but we cannot be certain’, he further added.
