Decision to leave PDF backed by supporters: Hamletson Dohling

Speaking to reporters on December 30 on the sidelines of a programme, he informed that he will resign as an MLA on January 4, 2023, and will join the NPP on January 7, 2023, and is set to contest the election on an NPP ticket.

SHILLONG:

MLA of Mylliem constituency Hamletson Dohling said that leaving the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) was a decision made by the supporters of his constituency.

Speaking to reporters on December 30 on the sidelines of a programme, he informed that he will resign as an MLA on January 4, 2023, and will join the NPP on January 7, 2023, and is set to contest the election on an NPP ticket.

“My decision to leave PDF is not an individual decision but 36 leaders from the Mylliem constituency have made the suggestion. It is not an election among political parties but it is an electoral fight among candidates. Hence, I chose to pay heed to the advice,” he said.

Informing that he will release an achievement/progress report highlighting his performances in these five years, he said, “People will give their support. I will release the report on January 7.”

He said that he has verbally communicated to the leaders of the PDF and maintained that he has nothing towards the PDF, but it was solely on the advice of his supporters.

Asked if he was facing a threat from veteran Congress candidate Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, he observed that the electorate does not look at the political party but rather at the person who performs.
