Development in NE started after 2014: Tripura CM on 50th Statehood Day

AGARTALA:

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on January 21 addressed a low-key event as part of 50th Statehood Day celebrations and claimed that the real development in Northeast happened only after PM Narendra Modi came to power.

“In 1972 Tripura started its journey as a full-fledged state. Under the leadership of PM the country became a self-reliant nation. Before 2014, the NE region was neglected but when PM Modi came in 2014 the real development started in the NE states and Home Minister Amit Shah has created NEDA for uniting the states in the region”, CM Deb said, while adding that Modi has paid utmost attention to the development of the region and envisions North East as the Ashtalakshami of India’s Economy.

Praising the role of the Home Minister Shah, Chief Minister said under his leadership, Tripura is marching ahead on the path of development through the HIRA model and has become the “gateway of the North East”.

Citing developmental perspectives, Deb further stated, “The per capita income has increased during the present BJP government’s regime to Rs 1.29 lakh which was Rs 1.25 lakh during previous Left front government. Farmers’ income also increased from Rs 6,580 to Rs 11,093. As for infrastructural development, works worth Rs 11,000 crore is going on at present. Students of poor families got the opportunity to study in government-run CBSE-affiliated schools. Patients don’t move outside state for treatment as all super-medical facilities are available here itself. Youths are becoming self-reliant. About 1.25 lakh employment have been created and more than 10,000 government jobs are in the pipeline. The crime against women decreased and conviction rate has increased.”
