Drivers on high alert while plying on Pynursla road

At the same time, with heavy downpours come landslides – both minor and massive. On June 11, a minor landslide was reported near Rngain on the way to Pynursla.

Driving along the landslide-prone areas from Umtyngngar till Pynursla was not an easy task during monsoon season as drivers are prompted to stay alert and cautious in case of any natural calamity.

Heavy rains that lashed parts of the state in the past two days had brought some relief to the state, especially the Umiam Dam that was on the brink of a total shutdown.

At the same time, with heavy downpours come landslides – both minor and massive. On June 11, a minor landslide was reported near Rngain on the way to Pynursla.

Authorities were informed and members of the Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) Riwar Mihngi circle, along with a few local residents rushed to the spot to help out with clearing the debris.

No casualty was reported.
